I thought that this class would be interesting when I registered for it, and I was right. I really did enjoy this class. I learned so many things about technology. I learned that there are lots of websites out there to help educators make lesson plans more easily, and not have to spend a dime on most of it. It is not expensive to produce a presentation, or short video for your class. A few sites that one can use, are websites like Prezi, or Screen-cast-o-matic, and TeacherTube. Other sites on the web, help educators organize lesson plan ideas. Some of the sites to help with social bookmarking are, Pinterest, Digg, and Delicious.
Now that I know about all of these sites, I plan on exploring these sites more, and get started on making lesson plans, as I learn and go through college; and in conclusion, I recommend any student that is interested in becoming a teacher to take EDTC-245 sooner rather than later. You will learn so much in this class.

Collaboration Tools
To collaborate means to work, one with another, and cooperate as on a literary work. Collaboration is a big deal when working with other teachers and students. When students collaborate with each other, they are not only learning from each other, but they are learning how to work with each other.
There are many different collaboration sites on the web these days. Having a Blog is a type of collaboration tool. Teachers can use Blogger to communicate with each other and their students. A teacher could post a discussion topic from the day, and have each student write about what they learned from that subject. If a student misses a test, then the teacher can post on quizlet, or poll everywhere to help that student to catch up on schoolwork. Another collaboration tool is TeacherTube. On Teacher Tube, teacher's post different video's or ideas to use in the classroom. Using all of these tools will not only help keep my lesson plans organized, but it will also help other teachers when making lesson plans. The only challenge is with early grade level students, I believe that they would be too young to maneuver these sites, but as a teacher, I could use these sites to collaborate with their parents.

Virtual Field Trip
What child wouldn't want to take a virtual tour somewhere. I could bring my class on a virtual field trip to anywhere in the world. We could see The Great Wall of China or even to the Everglades. I could show my class a tour of Niagra Falls or the volcano's in Hawaii. Just imagine the possibilities that each child could experience.
With a camera and websites like Screen-Cast-O-matic, I could make my very own virtual field trip to places that we are planning to take a real field trip to. I believe that this would be a really good thing to do with my class.
I know that a field trip is way better in person because you get to experience things first hand, but in all reality, who really has that kind of money to take a trip around the world to multiple destinations?

I have learned so much since starting this class. Each week is a new adventure. This past week we learned about digital stories. There are so many places that help a person create these stories, and I would have never Imagined how simple it is to put together a 5 minute video. I find that ActiveInspire, TeacherTube, and Screencast-O-Matic, are some very helpful tools. I really like the idea of making short stories to help today's children learn new concepts. It may take time to create a short story, but in the end, it is worth it!

Multimedia through my eyes
This multimedia lesson taught me a lot. I learned, that you do not have to spend hours on a presentation; because, you never know what will happen. For instance, my computer shut off, and everything that I worked so hard on, just disappeared.
On the other hand, I learned of this wonderful website called Prezi. You see, it is an interactive presentation tool that lets its users create presentations similar to PowerPoint, but without all the hassle. I will definitely use the site for all of my presentation needs in the future.
Voicethread was another site that I tried out. On this site, you can add your voice to your PowerPoint presentations. I would like to create a different lessons on this site, and save them to a USB drive. Then, if I would ever need to get a substitute teacher, my class would still be learning something.
The other site that I tried out was Animoto. This is another definite! All you have to do is add your photos and videos and then you're done! Imagine all the time I can save! The more time that I can save, is the more time that I can spend with my family.
All in all, I feel more confident that I will succeed as a full time teacher, mom, and wife, because of all of the awesome sites that I learned about this week. Now, on to week three. I'm anxious to know what this next week has in store for me! Good Night and God Bless!
